Validación del Indicador de Displasia Anteroposterior (APDI) para el Diagnóstico cefalométrico de la Clase Esqueletal y su relación con el ángulo plano palatino-plano AB

Keywords: Cephalometrics, norms, APDI

Abstract

Many cephalometric parameters have been proposed in order to describe anteroposterior jaw relationship. Different studies have also reported different factors that affect the validity of those parameters. To assess the jaw relationship, the conjunctive use of the ANB, the Wits appraisal and the APDI have been recommended. Given that this measurement is almost unknown in our country, the aim of this work was to validate it in Chilean population. Method: 94 lateral cephalograms were analized on patients with neutroclussion and good facial profile, the APDI was compared with Kim´s APDI and also by age, sex and rotational pattern as well as its relationship with the palatal plane- AB plane angle. Conclusions: The results show that the APDI was slightly different from Kim´s, but there were no significant differences with palatal plane-AB plane angle or by sex, age and rotational pattern, therefore, a single APDI value is recommended.
