Abstract

The following paper gives an overview of a design/build course in technological architectural education in Chile. Throughout the presented experience timber has been the most utilized material in the work performed by students. Results shows it as a material which has enabled to develop a variety of different structural types, through prefabrication and within constraints established by this particular case of study-technical, economical and time-. Conclusions drawn from the course shows a successful experience in material exploration, however management to raise larger funds and work along with a community to benefit, are still challenges to be considered in the course. © WCTE 2018 Committee.
