Osorno's Plaza de Armas, a modern design conceived by the German landscape architect Oscar Prager, is one of the oldest and most popular public spaces in the city. This study aims to understand its landscape architectural values, as well as to reveal the ways in which this space is significant with respect to the needs of belonging of the population. The researches were carried out both through disciplinary procedures of architectural assessment, as well as from the sociology, investigating in the perception of users through the application of interviews with surveys of perception of the value of social uses, and discussion workshops. It is concluded that the Plaza de Armas, a fundamental piece of the landscape plan devised by Prager, is today a relevant place in the landscape of urban modernity of Osorno, a complex identity scenario whose physical and social components act to facilitate the sense of belonging, collaborating in the achievement of a sustainable local habitat.
