Abstract

We report experimental evidence of localized vortex distributions which were created, in the wake of three side-by-side circular cylinders, using a recent wake control method (see Hernández R. H., Baudet C. and Fauve S., Eur. Phys. J. B, 14 (2000) 773). Vortex packets are generated through a dynamical control of the natural vortex shedding associated to the Bénard-von Kármán (BvK) instability.
