Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply manufacturing a pyroelectric mixture which is excellent for its high pyroelectric reaction property, high Q value and large pyroelectric coefficient. SOLUTION: At least two kinds of chemicals are mixed at a specified mixing ratio. In the process, one chemical is polymerizing and contains an achiral liquid crystalline monomer and the other chemical contains an achiral liquid crystalline polymer or copolymer profitably. Each chemical compound contains a hydrogen bridge formation substitutional group. A mixture is heated to a proper glass transition point or higher. Thereafter, electric field is applied, polymerizing monomer is polymerized by using it and the mixture is polarized. In an applied electric field, the mixture is cooled to a glass transition point or lower. As a result, an attainable pyroelectric coefficient of mixture is the size of a PVDF(ferroelectric polymer polyvinylidene fluoride)-type pyroelectric element. Its Q value is higher than a PVDF-type well-known element.
