Abstract

The reserach contains an analysis of recidivism understood as a new contact with the justice system and new conviction, of a cohort of prisoners released from prison or admitted to serve an alternative sentence in 2007 for a period of three years. The average recidivism by new contact was 71.2% and by new sentence of 50.5% in the case of person released from prison; and of 27.7% in the case of those complying with an alterative penalty.
