Abstract

•Students with intellectual disability are capable of representing experience through semiotic ensembles. • The narrators orchestrate embodied resources on images, creating multimodal narrative texts. • Contact gestures on images have a powerful semiotic potential for these group of narrators. • Multimodal Discourse Analysis makes visible the simultaneous deployment of embodied resources for semiosis. • Social Semiotics recognizes narrators with intellectual disability as meaning makers.
