Abstract

The objective of compiling a book with updated basic information is to contribute to the knowledge of toxic and noxious phytoplankton of the Magallanes region in photographic catalog format; It is the opportunity to give colleagues and the entire Magellanic community a basic consultation tool that will allow them to become familiar and know the species present naturally in our coasts. The majority present in this catalog, are perceived as harmful by humans, by the negative effects they cause in the fishing, aquaculture, tourism sectors, in addition to their strong impact on public health, but in some cases it is beneficial for aquaculture . Finally, it seeks to encourage and stimulate interest in these very important small organisms in the marine trophic chain.
