EFFECT OF VORTEX BENDING IN THE PHASE-TRANSITION MEDIATED BY VORTEX RINGS IN 3 DIMENSIONS AND ITS RELATION TO THE LAMBDA TRANSITION IN LIQUID-HELIUM
Abstract
We compute the critical behavior of a dilute gas of circular and elliptical vortex rings that can be bent. It is confirmed that this system presents a phase transition, and its critical exponents do not differ greatly from those of planar rings. Implications concerning the lambda transition in liquid helium are discussed.
