PROGRESSION AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: AN INTERVENTION BASED FROM THE TPACK MODEL

Keywords: Tpack, learning, teaching strategies, academic performance, technology.

Abstract

The scope of the research was related to enhancing strategies that favor the performance of the academic and students improving performance and approval rates in subjects that present high indicators of failure through the implementation of didactic-curricular strategies based on the TPACK model as a tool to support the progression and academic performance of the students of the Technological University of Chile-Inacap Los Angeles campus. The TPACK (Technological Pedagogical And Content Knowledge) is a model proposed by Mishra and Koehler (2006). It is a comprehensive approach that includes and integrates disciplinary, pedagogical and technological knowledge and their interrelations. The framework of this research is defined as qualitative-quantitative. In the diagnosis phase, the academics were selected and the objectives, thematic of the project and the application of a TPACK questionnaire validated by Schmidt et al. (2009). In the implementation phase, group and individual workshops with academics were developed. The comparative analysis of the academic performance of the basic science subjects showed that the teachers who adhered to the proposed methodology lowered their failure rates. As the Institution is a University of a technological nature, incorporating the use of ICT tools in curricular design and teaching strategies will allow knowledge to be used and represented in a different way, achieving knowledge to achieve an applied sense and use value in the real world.
