Abstract

The environmental impact assessment appears as a relevant issue, because the installation of productive initiatives has generated negative impacts in different territories, which is evaluated by the diverse actors of society in the context of different interests, by setting environmental conflicts. In this inquiry interests make the collective evaluation that young people report facing modernization initiative of an avenue in a city in south-central Chile. The investigation is approached from a qualitative perspective, using a single case design, production technique used as data in-depth interviews with active participants of a group that emerged in reaction to the environmental impact of the modernization of the avenue. The main findings show that in a youthful collective action converge associated with the appropriation of space as a subjective dimension of a environmental impact assessment psychosocial processes.
