Abstract

From a socio-historical viewpoint, the Aisén coast has been a territory of migrations and diasporas. The present work draws principally on ethnographical sources to describe and analyse the various itineraries which have marked the formation and development of this identity complex. The main testimonial references come from the second half of the 20th century, however our analysis covers a wider time-scale to include decisive events from the 19th and 21st centuries.
