A presumed case of canine distemper in a gray fox (Pseudalopex griseus) from central Chile
Abstract
Presented is the case of a gray fox (Pseudalopex griseus) showing symptoms of canine distemper that had been found dying in central Chile (36°36?S, 72°06?W). A direct ELISA test revealed an antibody titer against the CD virus of 1:40. The result and its potential implications for wild and domestic animals are discussed in conjunction with other reports on canine distemper in wild carnivores.
