Abstract

This paper presents the preliminary results derived from the analysis of painted rock art of Tignamar river basin , High Valley of Azapa, specifically in the sectors of Pampa El Muerto, Tojotojone and Mullipungo. The progress achieved over the past three years allowed recording of level site and panel of the previously known rock art sites as well as of the ones that had been recently discovered. The application of the new recording techniques, allows to identify the variety of scenes and thematics, no doubt , in relation to the long sequence of occupation of northern Chile from the Archaic period to posthispanos times.
