Abstract

SUMMARy Chronic venous insufficiency is a condition that afflicts a significant percentage of the population. The correct understanding of its pathophysiology and mechanisms involved is the best tool for effective therapy. The following review discusses the main issues relating to the classification, pathophysiology and evaluation of patients with chronic venous insufficiency. Finally it addresses in detail the medical treatment of this disease.
