Abstract

This article presents the results of a research project called: "The meaning of the common, from social networks to virtual networks in education". The objective of this project is to understand what type of citizenship is configured from the relationships that adolescents between 12 and 18 years old configure in virtual social networks (Online Social Networks, OLSN). From this problematic, two theoretical lines arise that base this purpose. In the first place, the concept of citizenship, understood as a social space of coexistence, political belonging, and legal to regulate the rules of civil society. Secondly, the great presence and deployment of the virtual world in the lives of the subjects, as another space of relationships that could articulate different forms of construction of the political and citizenship. The methodological approach has integrated qualitative techniques: ethnographic interviews, focus groups and content analysis in social networking (virtual networks). This article only accounts for the results focused on semi-structured ethnographic interviews and focus groups. The analytical results of the discourses raise two categories that are linked to: 1. The absence of citizenship as a territory of the common in virtual social networks. 2.
