Risk narratives in the chilean Patagonia
Keywords: differentiation, risk, territory, narratives, natural disaster, social construction
Abstract
The objective of the article is to identify and to make visible the risk narratives that are constructed in the Chilean Patagonia. This paper aims to strain current models of risk policies in Chile, which conceive risks in an objective and homogeneous manner, privileging technical rationalities that subordinate contextual differences. The study design is qualitative, and the information was collected through eight focus groups in Magallanes and Aysen regions. The results show a strain before the actions of the State, isolation, precariousness, a concern for the public sphere, social organization and regional identity.
