Generativity and Life Satisfaction in a sample of grandparents from Santiago, Chile
Keywords: life satisfaction, grandparents, grandchildren, generativity
Abstract
The results of a sample of 383 chilean grandparents stratified by sex, age and income level to the Loyola Generativity Scale (LGS) (McAdams & de St. Aubin, 1992) adapted for grandparents in Chile (EGL-A) by Larrain, Zegers & Orellana (2016) and the Life Satisfaction Index Neugarten, Havighurst & Tobin (1961, 1996) in its adapted version to Chile by Zegers, Rojas-Barahona & Foster (2009) are presented. It was not found a positive correlation between the total scores of both instruments but it was positive when the sample was stratified by school level between generativity and the congruence dimension of the LSI-A for all those with complete high school studies (r = 0.215, p= 0.021) or college studies (r = 0.230, p= 0.0066).
