Abstract
In most specialized literature in synthetic aperture radar the image formation is addressed from the viewpoint of signal theory. An interesting exception can be found in the book of Sullivan, where the radar image is presented from a physical viewpoint. In this article the basics of imaging radar are revisited from the point of view of field theory based on the work of this author. Two errors committed by him in his book are corrected.
