Assessment of reading levels and translation of pictograms by Basic Education Chilean students
Abstract
The objective of this research was to evaluate the reading level and translation capacity of pictograms by 6th and 7th grade Basic Education Chilean students. With this purpose, two tasks were proposed to 745 students; in the first task the students had to translate a pictogram to a table and in the second task they had to justify their agreement or disagreement with two statements, using the data from a pictogram. The analysis of the answers served to compare the correction of the answers and the reading level reached in both courses.
