Abstract

This paper brings a discussion about hypermedia as the main characteristic from the web, emphasizing its capacity of offering optimized tools for web journalistic production, and also of helping contemporary journalism to match to the convergent scenario. The approach permeates thinking about how this potential is explored by the contemporary web journalism. The methodology used is the literature research, combined with an exploratory observation on vehicles that use hypermedia in their journalistic productions. As a conclusion, we propose quantitative categories for analyzing the hypermedia on journalism, which are based on navigability, interactivity and complementarity – features involved in the concept of hypermedia. The categories created can be used and adapted for researches in the web journalism area.
