Granular systems on a vibrating wall: The kinetic boundary condition

Soto R.

Abstract

Dense granular media fluidized by a vibrating wall was analyzed using kinetic theory. It was found that the boundary conditions associated with the vibrating wall could be replaced by a stationary heat source. It was also found that the substituting the vibrating wall by a thermal one have poor results, while substituting by a heat source was very accurate. It was observed that the value of the energy influx was independent on any external field or on the restitution coefficient between particles.
