Abstract

This paper sets out to present the findings of an empirical study conducted with 1,103 students in 6 middle and high schools that asked – to what extent and who (gender, age) is a victim of electronic media bullying (including cell phones and the Internet) and how it is associated with « regular » victimization and is related to self esteem, life satisfaction and school climate. Findings show evidence of a correlation between bullying and violence with electronic media. It also shows the impact of such victimization on both self-esteem and life satisfaction. The authors make suggestions to inform intervention.
