Abstract
The present article aims to highlight the similarities in the economic and political impact that the cities of Tacna and Arica experience, following the Peace Treaty of 1929 signed as a consequence of the Pacific War between Chile and Peru, and that incorporates Tacna definitely to the Peruvian State and Arica to the Chilean State. For this, the information appeared in newspapers of the time, on both sides of the nascent frontier and the review of other primary and secondary sources. As a result, it can be established that the treaty of 1929 generated a sense of crisis and abandonment in both cities, far from the national metropolises.
