Abstract

This paper studies a period of urban history of Valdivia, becoming with the reconstruction and transformation realized from 1909 to 1915, after the conflagration that destroyed the historic downtown, when were modified urban planning and height of streets, just as it provoked pave it. Also, it established a sewage and potable water system, buildings and new fluvial esplanade. Later, it gradually others changes occured, to a new urban project, in 1931, that pretended to resolve the problems are waiting for solutions, but it was not put an action.
