Pain treatment method involving the use of spinal pannexins
Abstract
The invention relates to a method for treating pain in mammals, in which pannexin function-inhibitor compounds, including carbenoxolone, probenecid and 10panx, are administered to an individual suffering from pain. The invention also relates to a method for inhibiting the transmission of chronic pain and acute pain, involving the interaction of neuronal, microglial, astrocyte or oligodendrocyte pannexins with compounds that inhibit the activity of this channel, including carbenoxolone, probenecid and 10panx.
