Fe2O3@polyaniline nanocomposite: Characterization and unusual sensing property
Abstract
Fe2O3@polyaniline (PANI) nanocomposite was prepared by oxidative polymerization method. Characterization techniques suggested the interaction between Fe2O3 and PANI. Fe2O3 core and PANI shell can be clearly observed from SEM and TEM images. Plausible explanation for the formation of core/shell Fe2O3@PANI nanocomposite has also been explained. Weak ferromagnetic and unusual uric acid (UA) sensing property of the sample was identified from vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). Fe2O3@PANI modified electrode exhibits two redox peaks for UA due to the presence of PANI and Fe2O3 electrocatalytic center which is quite different from bare electrode. Among the dual electrocatalytic center, Fe2O3 center exhibits enhanced UA sensing property. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
