Critical practice in work with children and young people: perspectives from research

Abstract
This introductory chapter provides the theoretical framework for understanding what it is meant by "Critical practice" using examples from professional practice with children and young people from Chile, Cyprus and Malta. Each of these case studies explores the ways in which research can aid an understanding of what it means to be a "critically a refelctive practitioner".
