Abstract

After having lived for many years under a protectionist commercial policy (with hightariffs) Chile bet on the economical opening both unilateral and bilateral as of 1973, when a strategy of integration towards international markets was put in practice, promoting foreign investment and external capital access. Considering such context, the present paper has as main objective to analyze the Chilean manufacturing export process with the end of getting to know the impact that these treaties that have been signed by the country with different states have had, to integrate to this type of international commerce. It is supported through a documentary study that uses scientific documents (primarily decrees) that deal with the topic. References are made concerning a subparagraph about the Chilean integration with Latin-America, its evolution is examined, especially from manufacturing exportations and the possible relation between exchange rate behaviors and their volume. It is concluded that the bilateral integration process, increased the total exports volume and the manufacturing process, and that the type of exchange rate behavior has not been a determining factor of this increase.
