Abstract
This chapter examines how digital technologies, particularly information and communication technologies (ICTs) become artifacts that help a group of music fans to be situated in networks of information and cultural flows. It is based on nine months of fieldwork (2011) in Santiago, using an ethnographic approach, following the everyday practices of the creators of eight music websites in Santiago (Chile) through which global and local cultural flows are mediated, organized, and circulated. It also explores how music websites operate as spaces through which music fans objectify their positions within those networks, as well as representations of the scene and its flows. On the one hand, they do this through a set of practices, e.g. establishing connections with others and with flows through different digital devices. On the other hand, producing websites about local and global music scenes, they develop a set of dispositions towards cultural flows and digital technologies.
