Abstract

For the academics it represents a challenge to publish in scientific journals, as these present increasingly high levels of demand and rejection. The present work intends to present what are the most frequent errors that are committed in the elaboration of scientific articles according to the opinion of the members of scientific journals. To this end, a questionnaire with closed questions was applied to an intentional sample of directors, editors, committee members and referees of scientific journals in Ibero-America. The type of research is comparative and the perspective of quantitative analysis. Among the most relevant results is the diversity of criteria according to the role of the respondents in the editorial process; being the members of editorial committees who indicate more frequently problems of presentation of the different parts of the works, in comparison to what argued editors and arbitrators. It is concluded that in the evaluation is not only determining attributes such as originality, relevance and rigor, also, compliance with the rules and the wording, therefore, problems of form become the background, that is, the style of communication is determinant in the evaluation.
