Automatic beta-expansions of formal Laurent series over finite fields
Abstract
We consider beta-expansions of formal Laurent series over finite fields. If the base beta is a Pisot or Salem series, we prove that the beta-expansion of a Laurent series alpha is automatic if and only if alpha is algebraic. (c) 2014 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
