Abstract

The present work delivers the results of the application of an interactive material, where the contents that are dictated in the General Chemistry course of the University oriented to Engineering careers at the University of La Serena, Chile, are presented, in addition to showing and virtually demonstrate some of the laws covered in the course. The interactive material consists of the application of a manual made especially for students of Engineering careers and an interactive material using the programs for public use that are Windows Movie Maker and Loquendo. This material explains exercises related to the subject covered in the course, in which the student can reinforce the contents and exercises seen in class. It was possible to determine that the students improved the understanding of the contents, as a result of which the information provided is aimed at the students of these careers, in addition to the application of exercises and explanation in virtual form. The passing rate of students compared to previous years remains the same, but passing grades increased by approximately 10%. Concluding that these types of tools are successful in improving the understanding and application of Chemistry for Engineering students.
