Abstract

The organic compound present in sampIes of the coaI-Iayer of the Arauco area were studied and characterized. In this paper we present the results of the Lota bed. The sampIes were extracted with dichloromethane in a SoxhIet during 24 hours. The soIvent was removed in rotary evaporator under vacuum, The compounds of the extract were anaIyzed, by the Dougias W. Later method, using column chromatography techniques was done by gas-Ijquid chromatography, usjng intemaI standard and mass detector coupled. We could characterize a large number of organic compounds" They are the foIIowing: aliphatic hydrocarbons from C11 to C30, aromatic compounds and sulphur and oxygen compounds. The resuIts were compared with those studies carried out on samples of coal-beds of different latitudes
