Abstract

The purpose of the research is to develop a multivariate model that allows explaining and analyzing the sustainable behavior of undergraduate students at the University of La Serena (ULS), Chile. A relational model with seven working hypotheses is proposed, which was studied using the structural equation model (SEM) by the partial least squares (PLS) method, confirming, with statistical reliability, that a sustainable behavior of the students is a consequence of the simultaneous influence of five variables that positively, directly and indirectly influence it, accounting for 57% of the variance of the behavior in question. Therefore, it is concluded that the results confirm the hypotheses and the proposed model. The constructs that directly and positively influence students' sustainable behavior are: environmental challenges, organizational values, institutional norms, environmental knowledge and environmental behavior.
