Abstract

The political, economic and social modern project undertaken by European countries since the late eighteenth century to the present day presents different ways to fulfill its hegemony over the countries in Latin America. The Latin American experience as a colony of Europe and the social struggles have been marked by an emancipatory interest not fully resolved yet, however there are certain lights that try to guide an output to trigger an awakening and smart enough to gain ground to modernity. The decolonial thinking proposed by Walter Mignolo and Gómez-Castro proposed that the non-well-defined areas in modernity will be a social and cultural opportunity for the Latin American people and all those countries listed as postcolonial states. Furthermore, I will include some interesting ideas to support these arguments taken from the area of biology (Maturana and Sapolsky) and education (emancipatory curriculum in Chile).
