Modern Chilean poetry and its tradition of popular poetry: the case of the poet Carlos Pezoa Véliz

Abstract
Chilean modern poetry begins its tradition with folk poetry. Both recognize that within their referents the poet Carlos Pezoa Véliz is one of them. This poet has created a transcultural program that seeks to develop an artistic work by means of an idea, a method, and a purpose. His poems dialogue with the reader and modern society through everyday language connected with popular reality. His lyrical language connects differently throughout a transcultural speaker. Thus, it is possible to successfully combine the artistic programs of popular culture and elite culture, experiencing communication between them and global trends. This article will take three criteria that make up a network of value categories which are connected to the poetic project of PezoaVéliz: the agonistic, the acratic, and the ancilaric. These discursive categories explain his poetic work in general and in the particular analysis of his poem Nada.
