Lynchings and law in Chile: between ineffectiveness and symbolic power

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze, through the examination of lynchings, how Chilean state law is socially constructed in these actions. This approach makes it possible to overcome the current understanding in literature that places lynchings in a dichotomous relationship with state institutions.
