Abstract

This paper presents experimental results obtained from drained triaxial tests and the main goal is the definition of the shape of the yield surface of a chemically stabilised soil. To intersect the yield surface at several points, drained triaxial tests with different drained stress paths (q/p’) were performed using reconstituted samples of a Portuguese soft soil stabilised with Portland cement. Since the definition of the yield point involves some ambiguity, results from the application of three different yield criteria are discussed. The results show that the shape of the yield envelope depends on the choice of the yield criterion and that there is consistency between the different yield criteria for some of the stress paths tested in this study
