Abstract

Immunotherapy against cancer has been positioned as a procedure that progressively shows better therapeutic results. Throughout its history, we observed a series of missteps and successes that surround the development of this technology. At present, technological advancement has allowed us to develop specific therapies capable of modulating the immune system to induce effective antitumor responses. This type of therapy has involved a revolution of great magnitude in medicine. It is interesting to consider that the Nobel Prize in Chemistry and Medicine in 2018 crosses research that contributes to the development of humanized antibodies for the treatment of cancer. This contribution offers a panoramic and simplified look at some critical milestones in the development of sciences, which have led to the advancement of what we know today as immunotherapy against cancer, as well as its latest findings to offer a small recognition to those who have contributed to these advances.
