Abstract

Bioeconomy is a strategy based on the more efficient use of biological resources technologies and processes to provide goods and services demanded by our societies. For countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, these trends represent a new, powerful opportunity. The Region is not only a great producer of sustainable biomass, but also import developments in its scientific-technological capacities, industrial infrastructure and bioenergy generation. The book gives an overview of different bioeconomy initiatives in the countries of Latin America.
