Submissao de um genoma procarioto ao NCBI: National Center for Biotechnology Information
Keywords: Sequencing, assembly, bacterial genome
Abstract
The word GENOMA was coined in 1920 by Dr. H. Winkler who merged the word "GENes and chromosomes". The term GENOMICS was established much later, in 1986, when it was proposed to create a new discipline and a new scientific journal. The techniques of DNA sequencing, which emerged in the late seventies, were an important milestone in genomics. Today they are more accurate and less expensive. This manual is a guide for assembly, genome annotation, data treatment and analysis. It is, therefore, an essential reference for everyone dealing with research in this area.
