Abstract

This theoretical article aims to provide a critical reflection regarding Young and Adult Education (EPJA by its Spanish acronym) which is currently being taught in Chile during the Coronavirus outbreak. In order to do this, several articles about the problems that this health contingency has caused in millions of students from low socioeconomic status have been reviewed. The analysis that emerges from this review is relevant and can be extrapolated to the reality of EPJA, since in this educational context people with low-income and limited educational background attend. Under this logic, we examined some of the measures which have been implemented during this health crisis, one of them being the Remote Emergency Education, whose implementation not only makes the problems that already existed within the school system visible, but also increases the social inequality that already affects our country. Finally, some educational suggestions, which might be useful in future pandemic or social crisis contexts, are proposed.
