Abstract

The article presents a discussion about the corpus created to serve as a source in a terminological research of the terms of the area of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Objects. The PhD research, carried out in the light of theories and concepts discussed by Socioterminology and the Terminology Communicative Theory, proposes the elaboration of a glossary for students of the Conservation and Restoration courses, besides discussing some significant terms for an area of specialization still in structuring in the context of the patrimonial field. In this article, the methodology and application of criteria for the creation of the corpus of study are analyzed, compiled from the texts published in the Annals of the Congresses of the Brazilian Association of Conservators-Restorers (ABRACOR). The question of the representativeness of the corpus within the sociocultural context in which it was produced is highlighted, since it is from the corpus that one can identify the meanings of the terms from the specific context in which they are used by the specialists.
