Abstract

This paper proposes a novel high step-up galvanically isolated DC-DC converter topology with wide input voltage and load regulation range and fault-tolerant operation capability. The latter is based on the inherent hardware redundancy of the proposed topology, which ensures the continuity of the operation of the converter in the case of failure of any switch in the front-end full-bridge inverter by its reconfiguration intro corresponding single-switch cell. The derivation, basic operation principle and some design guidelines of the proposed converter, as well as the experimental results of a 200 W prototype, are presented and discussed. As a key study, the short-circuit fault of the MOSFET in the front-end inverter was emulated to demonstrate the topology reconfiguration principle and overall feasibility of the proposed concept.
