Experiencia del diseño e implementación de un Curso de Formación General en Migración y Salud en la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Chile

Abstract

The current demographic reality of Chile is marked by the irruption of international inmigration which has generated an impact on the different levels of the social structure, including the health field. Given this context, the Working Group of Migration and Health, designs and implements a general training course on the subject, with the aim of providing tools to students of health careers, related to this new demographic configuration. Objective: to describe the experience of the teaching team in the creation and implementartion of a general training course about migration and health in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Chile. Material and methods: to describe this experience, we used the Kern model that is related to the curricular design within tha health area, based on six stages that require reviews of training needs from the perspective of different relevant actors in the process. Results: the implementation of the course allowes the delivery of contents for the understanding of the migratory phenomenon, in the context of health care, it had ap ositive evaluation by the participants and the evaluation allows a considerable imporvement for future versions.
