Abstract

Historically, the teaching of Pharmaceutical Physical Chemistry has been a great problem at this Pharmacy School in Chile. Before 2005, the subject was dictated by chemists, so the focus of the teaching was not the right one: their teaching was more theoretical than practical and besides, the course was supporting a high percentage of failure. The Pharmaceutical Committee decided to improve the teaching of the subject and in order to achieve that goal brought together a group of professors with different training: 4 of them are Pharmaceutical Chemists and the other 2 are Chemists specialized in Physical Chemistry. They were asked to modify the old program according to the professional profile of the Pharmaceutical Chemist. This course was dictated for the first time in the Spring 2005. This work presents the structure of the new course, the methodologies and innovations carried out, and the results of the evaluation of the 2005 Spring semester.
