Modeling of the solid-liquid equilibrium of NaCl, KCl and NH4Cl in mixtures of water and ethanol by the modified Pitzer model
Abstract
The present work studies of NaCl, KCl and NH4Cl solubility in binary liquid solutions containing water and ethanol in the temperature range from 288.15 K to 328.15 K. Results showed that solubility decreases with increasing ethanol concentration and increases with increasing temperature, with exception of the NaCl, where the temperature has a minimum effect on its solubility. The modified Pitzer model was successfully applied to represent the solid-liquid equilibrium of the studied systems, describing the drowning-out precipitation by the addition of an antisolvent.
