Abstract

This article o ers a general picture, of women participation in the Chilean contemporary music scene between the mid-1980s and the rst years of the transition to democracy. The article focuses in the female performers, composers, and musicologists that participated in the festivals of the Anacrusa Music Association between 1985 and 1994. Starting from Cecilia Plaza’s performance of the piece un lado, otro lado (1984) by Graciela Paraskevaídis at the festival of 1987, the roles of composer and performer are explored as complementary.
