Abstract

The Nahuelbuta mountain range is considered as an area of high biodiversity and this is not the exception for the case of amphibians. Due to the importance that this area has for the conservation of Chilean amphibian, a critical analysis of the amphibian species that have been reported in the Nahuelbuta Range, considering the nomenclatural and taxonomic changes, as well as new distribution records, is provided. The updated list of amphibians of species present in the Nahuelbuta Range is restricted to sixteen species representing 26.6% of the amphibians species present in Chile, which only four are endemic, most of them outside the state's protected areas system. Due to this last situation, the high conservation value areas held by forestry companies have a great importance in the protection of these species.
